#SbiComputerSecurityDay Tips for safe usage

Hi guys,

Today I'm going to tell you about computer security. We all know that computers play a vital role in doing business, especially in the field of e-commerce, banking, travel, etc. Hence, it becomes important to be aware of the safety measures required by us to ensure our safety from malafide users.
State Bank of India, a 211 year old organisation, has already been taking steps towards re-inventing itself continuously to meet customer's needs. New products are being rolled out as per needs of time and needs of customers.  #SbiComputerSecurityDay is here to make users aware of safe usage of banking services.
IT has changed the way of doing business. Therefore, the importance of IT security cannot be denied.
Customers are able to save time, effort and get the work done at the tap of a few buttons - all thanks to technology.  Hence, it is important for customers to realize the importance of safety and be aware of the safety parameters to ensure safety of the computer system. Using IT with safety is of prime importance otherwise users may fall prey to attackers and face losses.  Hence, I am sharing a few safety practices which should be followed by users to keep a safe cyberspace.
First and foremost, ensure to use banking only on your own network and avoid using cyber cafes or other public place networks. Here are certain tips on how to safely use IT for banking relating to various channels -
1. While using Debit Cards –
Keep your ATM PIN under high security and do not share it with anyone. Also, keep changing it at regular intervals and don't write it down anywhere, memorize it instead.
Try to keep a complex pin which is not easy to guess by anyone.

2. Beware of phishing calls –
Remember, your bank never calls you asking for any password, pin login id, etc. You should never disclose such details to anyone including bank officials. If you get calls saying that your ATM pin needs to be changed immediately or your bank account will be blocked if you don't disclose pin, immediately disconnect the call and report it to the bank.  Exercise due care in respect of all such telephone calls and never fall prey to them.
3. While using internet banking –
Keep your User ID and Password confidential and preferably memorize it, instead of noting it down somewhere. Do not disclose your password to anyone. Set a strong password consisting of various combinations of small & capital letters with numbers and special characters. Easy and weak passwords are easy for the hackers to crack. Ensure to Change your passwords periodically, keep your login and profile passwords distinct from each other. Avoid using net banking while using insecure internet, like Public WIFI or any Free WIFI in Cyber cafes, coffee shops, restaurants, Airports etc.
Carry out all your financial transactions on secure channels only. Register your latest mobile number in the Bank accounts for SMS Alerts so that you can be informed of every transaction as soon as it occurs. Do not keep more than required limits for beneficiaries for money transfer. Never share OTP/CVV and Password with anyone.
Logout properly and immediately, on completion of your banking work. Do not leave the computer unattended while your internet banking is logged in. Check your statements and transaction history regularly and verify that no unauthorized transactions have taken place.

I strongly believe that while using Computers and Information Technology, safety should be our utmost priority. We need to be cautious to protect ourselves from any unwanted attack on our finances.

Do share these tips with everyone.
